Homeless in Stoney Creek

A passing conversation seen,
as someone speaks to the homeless man
huddled in the rain,
seated on the curbside
outside of Fortinos in Stoney Creek.

Seeing the soaked blanket
over his head, asked
if he was all right
in the rain.

He places his umbrella
over the homeless man
and heads back
to the car, his own white
long-sleeved shirt now drenched.

There are still good people in the world.
